Claudine's Hair Salon - Contest
A new contest question will be posted on this page each month.
All the answers are found in, or are about, feature films. (Because this contest consists of answering a question about a film after you've discerned the name of the film from the poem, be aware that the clues include information about the whole film. So consider this a Spoiler Alert!)
Please send your answer via email, with "contest answer" written in the subject line.
The winner's name will be drawn at random, from the correct responses, on the first day of the following month. Correct responses must be received prior to midnight, PST/PDT, on the last day of the month, to be considered for that month's contest.
Last Month's Contest Question:
Ancient Master stands on sword points after she's climbed up the stairs. Pounding boards she now has sore joints, knuckles bleeding 'cause he cares.
Flying far to have a master break his oath - a weapon make. With a gun she'd succeed faster but her honor is at stake.
Left for dead the bride recovered. Nothing now can keep her back; beneath dirt in casket smothered, shotgun to the chest, sword hack.
Hunting down that nest of vipers once she'd woken from her sleep; vengeance that we can't deny her; zealous, deadly paybacks reap.
She continues, all he taught her helps her get through, drawn to kill. At the end she finds her daughter, five fingers to pay the bill.
Name two possible nemeses from the movie that she might have to fight in a sequel. You will probably have to have seen it to answer this one, so here's an alternative question: List the five characters and their code names.
Congratulations to the June Website Film Contest Winner Becca Lind, who not only listed all the characters and code names from the movie(s) Kill Bill Volume I and II, but also answered the first part of the question!
First answer: Nikki Bell, Vernita’s daughter, who walked in on The Bride having just killed Vernita. Elle Driver, who the story leaves blind and beaten, with the black mamba, in Budd’s trailer. Sophie Fatale, Oren-Ishii’s right hand, who was left alive to tell Bill that Beatrix was coming for him.
Second answer: Beatrix Kiddo/Black Mamba, O-ren Ishii/Cottonmouth, Vernita Green/Copperhead, Elle Driver/California Mountain Snake, Budd/Sidewinder, extra point: Bill/ Snake Charmer

The contest prize is a certificate, valued at $40.00, toward any hair service at Claudine's. (Not redeemable for cash or products.)
Some of these will be easier than others. It depends upon how creative I'm feeling. You may have to work a bit to figure it out, but I'm having to work to word things in a way that prevents popping a question into your search engine and getting the answer immediately!
Current Contest Clue and Question:
Crash through the fence to avoid the cow. Owe community service now.
Squash suits, magic quilts. He’s at the brink. He saw the girl. Now he can blink.
Pee in the woods to warn off the deer. Pull a truck out of that guy’s ear.
He’s made some new friends; helped out a lot. Parades and fireworks. Now he’s caught.
He’s worked off his time. He’s earned his pig. Frustrated in this small town gig.
Does he leave? Do boob jobs in LA? Or drop his dreams; decide to stay?
What Zombieland actor, playing a secondary character, had a great line playfully insulting a former co-star? And what was the line?
Do your best, and please send me your comments about whether or not you have a good time with this.
Thanks, and good luck.
